PLYMOUTH, MI -

During the week of July 23, 2007, 80 campers converged upon Lake Pointe Soccer Park for the second annual Milan Junior Camp. Campers were instructed by two of AC Milan's youth academy instructors, Roberto Alessio and Carado Cotta, along with six of Plymouth's best coaches (Sampson Worteh, Yao Kra, Ryan "Jamaica" Montague, Zach Wilkes, Brian Fields and Kelly Adsit).

Throughout the week, campers had opportunities to learn new techniques and sharpen their skills as they worked with 5 different instructors. Emilio and Fulvio made their daily rounds to each group to assist with academy techniques in ball control, dribbling, passing, receiving, heading and shooting infusing their special knowledge. Although their thick Italian accents were a challenge for the younger campers, everyone was able to understand the common language of soccer and the skills being taught. Some even picked up a few of the correct Italian words or phrases!

All campers enjoyed the daily World Cup activities as they strived for earning collectible European soccer pins. Throughout the week, players were able to earn more pins and tons of other great AC Milan goodies. Many were later seen and heard trading for different pins. It really added a festive environment.

Mingling in the crowd all week was professional photographer Randy Shurzinske. Randy took close to 1000 great action shots of all the campers. These can be found on www.shurphoto.com and can be purchased directly from him. Please take the time to have a look. Pictures shown here are just samples from his site.

On the final day, campers had an opportunity to watch all the coaches display their skills as they took on each of the camper groups. As expected, the older campers had a tough time finding the net and the younger campers got the better of the coaches. It's all about youth!

In closing ceremonies, each camper was awarded a Milan Junior Camp diploma. Many of the players were later seen asking coaches for their autographs on their diplomas and soccer balls. It was a great end to a great week.
